How would you handle this situation?

I have/had two sims that met in college. They were madly in love always had thought bubbles about each other and would seek each other out without direction. Well one evening there was a bad storm and the swing set caught fire and he was trapped. Unfortunately he was too close to the swing set and caught fire. I couldn't get her awake and downstairs in time to save him unfortunately. I agonized over exiting without saving to preserve his life and their relationship or to go ahead and save, mourn his life and move on. I chose to go ahead and save because I had major things happen to other sims. Well now I'm having a difficult time moving her on with her life. Of course she doesn't seem to care that he's gone, out of sim sight, out of sim mind. But I had their life planned out to some degree and don't really know what to do with her now. I'm beginning to figure something out with her but now I wish I had abandoned that game and saved his life. Oh well nothing can be done about it now.

How do you handle things like that do you abandon the game to save that sim or just rewrite the story? Does the surviving sim's life take a tragic turn from then on or do they go on and find happiness with another?

    Decisions, decisions!

Ruthie, that is so sad. I would have quit without saving I'm afraid because I have very definite ideas about how I want my game to go. Actually, the 'definite' doesn't always become obvious until after I have allowed something to happen and then I regret it like mad. I wish we had a way of 'saving' our game so that we could go back and retrieve a previous version though I guess that would spoil the fun. I have actually quit a neighbourhood and started again when I acted too hastily and was sorry afterwards.

You could have a back up of your game so that you can go back to it. I think that would just become a hassle though to keep making backups every time I play.

normally i don't care if a sim dies, but they sounded like the perfect couple!!,

if that was me i wouldn't of saved,

    anyway to resurrect him??

but if you follow the rule of thumb to save game play frequently... then you could have closed out and come back to the last save and had the simmie avoid the fire without disruption to your other sims. of course this advice is coming from someone who is have to build her game community all over again.:D

That is sad. Don't know how you feel about cheats, but there is one, possibly two you could do to bring him back.
First would be to unlock career rewards, once done, get the phone to call grim reaper. Bring him back as a zombie. Pay the highest price that you can (this may involve the money cheat) and he will be brought back. Remember the higher the price the better condition he is in. If you pay the highest that you can to the reaper, your fellow will be like before. I think he may lose some of his skills, but those you can build up again.
Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

You know Michelle I harp on students all day long to save often. When they come to me with some sob story that includes the fact that they didn't save their work I don't show much simpathy accept to say "Well look on the bright side, this gets you more practice and it should go faster this time". SO I guess all I can say is this is a lesson learned, I hope.

Fudrucker I think I'd rather just leave him dead then to have dealings with the Grim Reaper.
