i can't interact or watch tv!

with some families, when i make 2 or more sims to watch tv, they suddenly stand up and the tv shuts down. that happens when they're eating too.
and when i make two sims talk or wathever, they stop doing it and i can't do anything.
    what the hell is happening!!!

That sounds like the problem we had with the TS2 basegame before the patch came out. What EPs do you have installed? (If none, then go get the TS2 basegame patch.)

As Lynet said, you can find it here: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/?pid=Help_patches. If you installed the 4 disc version of TS2, then you need the CD patch. If you used a single disc to install the game, then you need the DVD version.

error during the installation of the upgrade

i've just installed the CD patch and did what it says but i get this "error durante la instalacion de la actualizacin" = "error during the installation of the upgrade" and when i click on OK the whole window is gone, so i can't see what went wrong.

Did you get the right TS2 basegame patch?

There are two of them. One is for the game if it came on a DVD, the other if it came on 4 CDs: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

At this point you should probably uninstall the game and try it again. Hopefully you won't have to start over from scratch. I had to completely start my families over because although new stuff didn't get the socalled "jump bug", the already established families still couldn't talk on the phone, woohoo, etc. (PS. Please do not use the "sex" word for woohoo in the game. This is a family oriented website and the word substitution is done deliberately by Maxis so that it can be family oriented. We are *not* "Singles.")

You can still save your game, but as I said, sometimes the "infected" families continue to have problems.

To uninstall, remove your TS2 folder from the My Documents EAGames folder and put the The Sims 2 folder on the desktop. Then you should be able to uninstall it without losing your families.

Once you've uninstalled, cleaned up your computer (by running your virus program, adware program, disc cleanup and disc defrag), then reinstalled, install the patch/update at that point. After it is installed, then you can delete the The Sims 2 folder which is now in the EA Games folder and replace it with the one that you saved before you uninstalled the game.

(At least you only have the base game. I had to uninstall and reinstall everything this week and I have all the EPs and stuff packs. What a pain!)

By the way, it's a good idea to save your The Sims 2 folder (or at least your Neighborhood folder from within the The Sims 2 folder) occasionally so that if something happens when you're playing which messes it up so bad it has to be uninstalled and reinstalled, you have a recent copy of your game as a backup to put in. (Saves a lot of heart ache if you have a lot of attachment to your families or a lot of work put into your houses in case your game is too messed up to just save it to the desktop while you do the uninstall/reinstall.)

"Niqui" as in "t shirt"? (That's the closest word to what my Unabridged Spanish/English dictionary says.) Or are you talking about the ok word for "sex": woohoo?

thanks! i will try to do that next week (now i dont have time and i want to be sure that I'm doing the right thing, i don't want to loose it all!)
I do have attachment to my families... my sim (i mean, the sim who plays me :p ) just grew up into an adult and now i will start my own family :)

iqui is not even a word, but in TS2 it reffers to the "woohoo" thing, the OK word for sex, as u said.

once again: thanksa lot for your help!
