I Don't Know About You... I dont know about you but it's really frustrating when I try to make a guy straight and all of a sudden he falls in love with a guy... I mean it's just so annoying!
That happened by accident? I didn't think Sims did romance interactions without being directed to by the player (unless they were already in a romantic relationship). And making Sims straight is boring, IMHO. Bi has to be the funnest sexual orientation ever. And there's no homophobia in the Sims, which makes it ever better! Your Sims can be completely sexually liberated and blissfully unaware that there are cultures silly enough to see love between people of the same sex as shameful. But seriously, Sims have whatever orientation you tell them to. As far as I'm aware, they start pretty much bi but with a slight leaning towards hetero, and then slide towards wherever you prod them. So if you had a female Sim whose first kiss was with Meadow townie and who is now in a stable loving relationship with the maid after a string of gay relationships, she'd have females as her autonomous gender preference. And a guy Sim with a wife and kids who was quietly bonking a score of other simpering skirts on the side would have an autonomous gender preference for females too. There's a thread on it - http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=3895 So it's surprising that a guy you presumably guided into heterosexuality (rather than just dressing him in masculine-looking clothes, not giving him much makeup and keeping him only able to cook instant meals and cereal) would decide on his own to fall in love with another guy.
I know the people at Maxis have made The Sims a "Blank Slate" for us to use. But still... I'm trying to have him go steady with this girl I made but he is to busy hanging out with this guy... So really he hasn't "Fallen In Love" but he has a crush...
I don't really understand. Is it that his Wants are full of this guy? Like, play with this guy, talk to this guy, invite over this guy? Because, now this is a theory, but it's a theory that seems to be backed up with stuff, evidence, hearsay, that kind of thing. Anyway, the theory is that Sim's wants are based to a degree on what you have them do. A good example of this is how knowledge Sims obsess about the skills you most recently made them build. So a longing for logic level 8 won't come if your Sim just spent the last couple of days talking to the mirror. So, even Romance Sims, who usually don't give a toss about anything other than the contents of other Sims' knickers, can be coerced into having wants to do with their families by making them do family-type stuff. ANYWAY, the point of all this is, if you mean you think your Sim is gay because his Wants are all full of his friend, just invite his broad over and do some romantic-interactions with them. WooHoo is always good for bringing couples closer. Call her over all the time and spend lots of time with her, and ignore your Sim's friend for a while, and he'll be a red-blooded stud in no time. Also, if it's his sexuality that's worrying you rather than his neglect of his girlfriend, try having lots of female lovers. He'll get the message.
Hmm, it is also possible that your male and female sim just don't care for each other romantically. It could depend on what star sign they are if they are going to really hit it off. He may just get along better with the guy friend. There was a really well put together post on the official BBS with all the star signs listed and who is compatible with who, and I'm fairly certain that info could be found in the Prima guide as well.
