    I just pre-ordered Nightlife

Gamestop.com had a special for Nightlife, free overnight shipping. So, I saved some simoleons, and I get the special car, too. :)

To get the free shipping, enter the code: SIMS2NL on checkout.

 I already did, a couple of days ago  I'd have mentioned it here except that I assumed I was the only who hadn't ordered it yet, although I think I saw the chance to order when I was doing a little email back and forth with EA. Can't check my email confirmation yet. Hubby's on my computer again and I'm using this iBook thingamajig with the screwed up keyboard.

Same deal, though-- the SIMS2NL coupon and the car download.

Heh, I trust that the car will make it, All of Maxis' "exclusive" downloads, like the Pepsi Vending machine for TS1 made it out to the public, and they really didn't care. And really, the only time I've pre-ordered a game was Halo 2, because after getting the last copy of Knights of the Old Republic on the release date, I learned that if a game was big enough, pre-ordering was a must, otherwise, it'll be waiting for you on the first day for the underappreciated diamonds in the rough.

Sorry Randy, darlin', but you just lost me there. Are you saying that pre-order is good or bad? (In your opinion)

In certain cases, maybe its good, as in, If the first shipment would siappear in teh first hour, pre-order, but I don't pre-order for little gimmicks, it just annoys me that they have to go over the top with trying to get their game out.

I pre-order because I live in a small country town with no major retailers close by, and even if I did travel to get it, It would probably still be quicker if I wait for it in the post (and cheaper too).

I live 5 minutes from any major retailer...so no need for shipping unless it's a game I know I can't get easily...

I guess I could wait and get it on the 15th at Game Stop or whatever day they stock it at Wally-World. But with pre-ordering I get it on the 13th, plus I don't have the added inconvenience of having to rush out and buy it. It comes to my door. :D I don't have those dweebs at Game Stop laughing at me for being the "Crazy Sims Lady" (It sucks being the only Simmer in a small town!!).

    LOL!

Don't think I'm going to preorder. The only thing I've ever preordered was TS2 itself... didn't preorder Uni... won't preorder this one. But I will get it within a few days of its release! :)

I'll probably just walk into gamestop when it's released....... don't need no fancy shamancy special car. already have 45$ in my pocket and have a payday before the release date.

My plan...if I even buy it...is to wait until Pescado gets it and fixes it. I did that with University and I think it took about a month. I paid half the price that those that bought it first day paid. I paid about 14.00 for University at Sam's Club (wal-mart's warehouse club). I'm going to sit back and let Kristal find all the bugs and glitches for Pescado and then decide whether to buy it.;)

*checks small print on the back of my big shiny moderator badge to see if I am allowed to wait too* ;) drat, drat and thrice drat. Kristal, looks like we're finding bugs and glitches next month

You know, Mirelly, how would we know when you get your main computer up and running. Unpacking all those boxes and decorating can take simply ages. Why...hooking up that main computer might have to be at the bottom of your to-do list. It could be just a coincidence that Pescado has fixed all the bugs before you are able to load Nightlife. :D

Hehe, I've been pretty lucky so far, I've instlaled and played both Sims 2 and Uni without incident, BAR ONE. Its a very benign bug though, the Cellphone/mp3 player where your wants keep rolling even though they don't really change unless its normal. And its pretty funny, because I think messing with my BIOS contributes to my luck.

When I first installed Uni, I fell victim to two problems. The 1st one was that I had a mod installed that was incompatable with Uni. Once I removed all my mods the game played fine, for about 2 days. I then fell victim to what I call the "Icon" bug. My memory and action icons went blank, and there were a few other problems. We now know this is caused by a corrupted object.package.file, but at that point of time this wasn't well known and I ended up doing a clean reinstall. I had a few of my original families saved in Body Shop, so I was able to start over with them. :(

So I am afraid that something like that will happen again. But I am going to be smarter this time with my installation and such. I have all my mods in a folder all their own. I can remove them and then add them back on by one and see if there are any that are incompatable. Most of my mods are from JMP or Inge Jones, so I think they will be okay, they have always been reliable.
