Installing on a labtop Do you think I could download sims 2 and the expansion packs on a labtop. I want to install it on to my new labtop with out it being a slow and taking up a lot of space, is that possible? Anyone...
As Mirelly said, it would depend entirely on the specs for your laptop. Many laptops (even brandnew ones) are too slow (and can't be made to work better), which is why Maxis came up with "Sim Stories" which is much more laptop and older computer friendly. So, post your specs (at least the operating system, CPU, video card name and number, amount and type of RAM and free space on your disc drive) so that we can help you. PS: it's best to call it "installing" instead of "downloading." When you download something, it means you get it off the internet, and if it's something like a game, it's usually considered "software piracy." There are a few exceptions to this (such as some of the EPS and Stuff Packs being downloadable from a Maxis authorized site) There are things *for* the games (such as custom content) that is downloadable, but in general, not the games themselves.
When running TS2 on a laptop I'd be watching out for issues with overheating. As with many games/applications laptops can't handle them easily if they are not well ventilated. Make sure your fan works properly and you leave some space underneath it (ie. don't put anything under your laptop when playing). If overheating becomes an issue it might be an idea to buy a fan mat - they come with 2-3 external fans and act like a massive cooling pad. Usually costs no more than $30AUD.
