Intel Inside Apples?! If you don't know, there's talk of Apple "scrapping" their current relationship with IBM (who produces the PowerPC chip) in favor of Intel chips. If it's to happen, it would probably be brought up Monday at Keynotes (I think that's what they called it?) Pros: Cheaper, cooler running chip. Allows for faster PowerBooks/iBooks Potentially lowering cost of product, becoming more competitive Suprise we haven't found out yet Cons: Necessitates support for those with current PowerPC processers and the future Intel processers Necessitates emulation of PowerPC chip for some programs Potential loss of customer base Loss of recognition as unique. Who doesn't use Intel chips today? When it comes to PCs, for the most part, it's either Intel or AMD.
