Hmmm... if you're bored with sims and trying NOT to think only of Sims 2, maybe you could make a list of other things you're interested in and try to DISTRACT yourself from sims 2? I've been reading a lot of books lately, and playing more video games.
I know what you mean about the Sims 1, but i'm not desperate for the sims 2, its just I load it up and its like...what did I see in this, it only happened the last two times because its since I found out about the aspirations, wants and fears thing that kind of give the game structure that the sims 1 lacked it turns it from being a virtual doll's house into a game. I just thought it was odd though, after playing the sims 1 for like 4 years almost and even when I was REALLY excited about the sims 2 (which has now passed) I still loved by Sims 1 sims, now its getting boring, the longest I could spend was 1/2 an hour this afternoon and then I got bored and turned it off and the day before that it was literally 10 minutes until I got bored. :S
Awww I'm sorry you're getting bored with your sims! But sometimes taking a break (maybe even a LONG break) from things we once loved can make them interesting again. I like the virtual doll house kind of thing so I'm waiting to see if I like the whole aspirations thing. I tend to get obsessive about getting to my immediate goal(s) in my sims playing, so I guess I tend to spend more than an hour each time I play and sometimes I don't quite get around to doing EVERYTHING I meant to do before it's about 5am and I have to get some sleep! I'm wondering how the new motives and the fact that my sims will be aging will effect my style of gameplay? Maybe if I don't make it to the goals I intended to play out with the first generation of sims I might pass on their goal(s) to the kids?
