I've heard things bad about nvidia..

    Hello,

Im getting a new computer like next week, and since im getting one i plan on getting the sims 2 finally, I am a huge fan of The Sims, and I had all of the expansion packs...i am just wondering if its true that there are some problems with nvidia cards...i have hear it around...other than that the system should be way more than adequete(sp?) for the game...and what about EPs for the game...should i just start from the first one to the most recent, and what order do they go in?

I can attest that I use only nVidia Powered video cards and have yet to experience problems when using it with The Sims 2.

Generally, my observations have been that people who use nVidia based cards have less problems than those who use ATI.

I have a nVidia GeForce 6600 and am very happy with the game performance. Just be careful downloading the upgraded drivers. LOL

Hey, we have the same card! :D

I LOVE my graphics card. My friend who's into computers recommended it. No complaints here.

Alright sounds like I'm all set then! And why do I have to worry about upgrading the drivers? Sorry, I know some things about computers but I'm very technical as to things like drivers and such, I think I have updated mine on this computer now 1 or 2 times in the 5 years I've had it lol...

Don't worry too much about that. If it's in the wrong spot we can move it for you.

Drivers should be updated regularly. If you look through our FAQs (link's in my signature) you'll find some handy information including how to analyse your computer to find out all the important details like display driver versions and dates.

NVIDIA brings out a new driver at least 2x a year, this is in response to game and other software and hardware developments and the general intention is the squeeze the last drop of oomph outa that graphical processor unit.

I have never updated drivers, oopsie :p

I have a Radeon X300 (256mb I think) and so far haven't had problems with it, though I guess I should update the driver.
