Just a Few Questions... How long have you guys been playing The Sims? Do you play every day? What do you like best about this game? (I'm writing a research paper on the addictiveness of video games) Thanks!
I've been playing for almost 2 years and I play (on average) every other day. The best thing for me is building houses and collecting objects, walls, floors, to decorate with. Even if I don't play the actual game, I download stuff to use every day. The thing I like 2nd best is probably the user-created downloads that keep the game fresh even when there hasn't been a new expansion in a while. (The reason I came up with the subject was because instead of writing my proposal, I only wanted to play the sims because I just got some great new stuff!)
the Sims in general? Or does this include SimCity series...... Little Known fact....average age of people playing video games is mid twenties.
I have been playing the game since Jan. 2000. I play in cycles because I have been playing so long. I will play a lot for a while then I take a break from it. I always get the expansions as soon as they come out except for deluxe, which I waited a little time before I decided to buy it. I love building and do each neighborhood in a different theme or time period, trying to make it as authentic as I can, including finding things like phones and other electronics that are made to blend in. I have thousands of downloads added to my game, that is one of my most favorite things is the different things people have come up with. To add a little history, I am a mother of two teen boys and I love playing games on pc and other consoles.
To Josh: I am referring to any game to which people have played A LOT... (i.e. my roommates have been playing Zelda: Wind Waker every day and night.) It could be any game, I should have thought a little more before starting this thread. I am 27 years old and have been playing pc and other console games since my dad first brought home a computer from work that had "Bouncing Babies" and "Frogger" when I was about 8 years old. o gees...to give you an idea, I've been play sims series title since simcity classic first rolled out... that's how long I've been playing
play almost everyday, tho sometimes it's just to download something new. I enjoy seeing what others design. The hardest thing is not to "rosebud" and live within one's means.
I just deleted all my downloads and uninstalled the game and started over. It's actually pretty refreshing to see that under the decorating game, there is a game where you actually play with the characters! Neat!
The Sims is the first game that I had that I found addicting but now am finding that I'm enjoying decorating more and playing with my Sim characters less... I'm finding that when I'm playing on the computer I'm actually finding myself spending more time here in the Forum than playing the game anymore!! Everytime, I get a new expansion though, I find myself amused again for a time...I haven't been playing as long as Alapokey but find that I am very similar in interests and playing style as she says she is ....
