Just can't think of walls/floors that work with this...

    Hi all,

First I'd like to say that I couldn't decide where to put this at first, but since the "Floors and Walls Forum" says "Show off your art skills through this board with your wallpapers and carpets. Share your skills or secrets!" I felt it would be better here.

All right, now on to my problem. You see I'm going for a modern style kitchen/family room, but I can't seem to find a wallpaper/floor style that jumps out and says "That's the one!" So.. I thought maybe you could recommend one. Attached is a screenshot to let you know what cabinets and sofa I have chosen.

    Thanks! :)

(Yeah, trust me, it will more than likely get moved. :( So be prepared to play "hunt the thread" sometime in the near future.)

That's really cool, John. I really like those cabinets!! Anyway, for modern wallpapers and floor, try Tribecca Sims. http://www.tribecca-sims.com/

Thank you very much. I will try that :)

And I'm always prepared to hunt if something gets moved. ;)

Nice commentary :p I love it when threads get comical.

Anyway, I found a wallpaper and a floor (along with a few other things) I liked at MTS2. It's modern, and I don't normally like modern, but every other house I have is so formal that it's driving me insane.

I've got three screenshots to show what I've done.

You know, it's a little wierd. I go to sites like SimStuff looking for one thing and download something entirely different. :)

My sense of interior decor tends to run more towards the spartan and gray, myself.

    What a surprise.

Maybe you should make wallpaper with blood streaming down the walls, just for atmosphere. Or perhaps some nice spider webs.

Hey JMp, there are some very nice gothic-style wallpapers at MTS2. :p :p

Most of the time, my houses tend to be more formal, and a little more reserved.

wow! I really love your interior decorating! I usually just put whatever the sim needs to gain skills and survive without really matching or having a theme. Very inspiring!

For me, the homes are almost the best part of the game. I love designing them and have come up with some good ones, and some bad ones ... I find if a Sim has a house I don't like I don't like to play them, in which case it's time to remodel, or just move to a vacant house I do like.

My goal is, no ugly houses. Still working on that one ...

One way to make a really nice house is to start with a large lot and have a general idea of how you'd like the house to look, but just have them live in one room with a bathroom until they can afford to add on. That is, if you're like me and don't use cheats ...

And just because something is the most expensive doesn't mean it's the best for that house. I try to pick a theme and stick to it throughout the house, not always easy because the furniture collections are incomplete (no chairs for some of the couches, etc.)

Just an idea for making your own cooler homes.
