Making Neighborhoods with SimCity 4 Okay, I have read a ton of conflicting information about making neighborhoods with SimCity 4. I understand that we have to choose the smallest city grid, and use only roads, not streets. Past that, I'm not sure how to lay it out. Anyone else doing this? Is there a limit to the lots we can create, or the size? I'm confused!
You can't create lots with SimCity4. You can only create the neighborhood with roads but no lots or the like. I've been following all the things coming out about the use of SimCity4 for TS2 neighborhoods and wrote a tutorial to get us by until the real one comes out. (And it had better be correct because I've been making "neighborhoods" like crazy!) http://thesims.ea.com/bbs/messages....1&startRow=1#aeb05248391855b7ae0cf14ab29e81b1 I hope that helps.
I suspect that the scale in terms of the houses will be the same as in TS1. In the screenshots, it didn't look like the furniture was taking up more room than it did in TS1. So, if a house took up 10x10 squares in TS1, it would do the same in TS2. At least, that's what it looked like. (So in terms of SC4 squares, that's 1 tile. And supposedly we won't be able to build closer than 1-2 lot squares to the boundary of the lot, but that's in lot squares, not SC4 squares. That's similar to TS1.) I actually held my strategy guide in my hand today at Gamestop, but I'll save $4 if I wait until Wednesday to actually buy it. So, I didn't bring it home. But I've got a feeling it wouldn't say that much about it anyway. I suspect that we'll know more about this sort of thing by actually playing the game. than from any book.
Ohh! Where was it on the shelf?? I went to our local Game Stop the other day and they told me Friday for the Strategy Guide. When I asked a worker at our Wal-Mart, she looked at me as if I had horns and said, "Umm, we don't know what the trucks bring in until it gets here. Trucks come in most nights around Midnight and we put it right out." (She had no idea what I was talking about)
