Marriage I have a couple of Sims who have been seeing each other and having a relationship forever. They show up as a romantic interest in the relationships panel. How do I get them to fall in love? This is taking forever. I'd like them to get married but I can't find that option or even one to get engaged. She is pregnant now. I turned off the neighborhood progression so I could get them to fall in love and get married before the baby was born but she ended up having the baby anyway. I didn't save it. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm getting kind of disgusted with it right now.
You get the marriage option under "Romantic" after you've got their interest up at that time. So, they could have been interested enough to get pregnant, but to get married you have to get them to the point where they have the woohoo option. The "become engaged" or "get married" shows up as an option about that time. It's not just the overall relationship that counts. It's what their interest level is at the time you have them interacting.
To propose, you have to have a number of romantic interactions in a row. Then it will show up in the romantic category. But if you have a hopeless romantic of a family-oriented trait in one of your sims, that will work as well in the special category.
Thanks for your help. They had done woohoo many times but there was still no option to get engaged or married. I don't know why. However the female Sim is a hopeless romantic so on Nyx's advice I was able to get her to propose using the special category. I hadn't considered that before as I was trying to get the male to propose to her. Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you guys but I wasn't able to play for several days. Real life happened.
