NO way to help ya unless we know what your computer specifications are.

Start .. Run ... and type dxdiag

    Tell us:

    • Processor name, speed (number of Hz)
    • System memory (RAM)
    • On Display Tab
      • Display Adapter name
      • Memory
      • Directx version number

Hmm ... I was kinda hoping to find out you were trying to play the game on an antique. That machine shouldn't be having problems. You could just double check at http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html that you have the very latest driver for your dispaly card ...

Next question has to be, where/when/how does the game freeze?

    Supplementary questions (sorry there're so many :p ) ...
    • Do you get to see the region view?
    • Or does the freeze happen even before that?
    • Or is it later on after you start playing a city?
    • If so is there something you are doing that always causes the freeze-up to occur?
    • Is there a stage in the growth of the city that causes the freeze up to occur?
    • Have you been able to play any of the tutorials?
Be patient with us :) I'm sure we'll get there in the end.

Hey Mirelly I am Corey's Real Life Friend and I told him t come here with questions, so I will be able to answer some of these, since he probably isnt up right now.

The game freezes within a city. He starts a new one, then after about 3 or so minutes of gameplay it freezes and he has to restart the computer.
No, he doesnt keep doing the same thing to cause the freeze.
And no he didnt try the tutorials.

I've been out of synch with things for a few days due to tech probs of my own. (good news is that after a clean reinstall of Windows and upgrading all drivers means that my puter now turbos its way thru The Sims 2)

Anyway how's this problem going? The best advice I can find is to suggest something similar for Corey. In particular to look into upgrading his motherboard chipset drivers/BIOS. Is he running Windows XP? What about the CD drive? Is that the original or an upgrade? Is the game being played from the drive that was used to install the game? Can we assume that all all background tasks have been ended? And that he is not using a No CD hack (or a virtual drive utility)?

 Too many questions ... not enough answers ... :(
