Neighborhoods not loading on Mac 1) CPU (MHz/GHz) 667 MHz/1.83 GHz 2) RAM/Memory - How Much (MB/GB) 1.25 GB 3) Free Hard Disk Space 1 GB 4) Total Hard Disk Space 60 GB 5) Graphic/Video Card Intel GMA 950 (is this what you mean?) 6) Graphic/Video Card Driver Version (not sure where to look for this) 7) DirectX Version (or this) 8) Operating System (Windows? Mac? Etc) Mac OS 10.4.11 9) Sims 2 CD or DVD Version for Mac v 1.0 10) Any expansion packs? no 11) Any hacks/mods? Any custom objects? I don't think so 11) Nature of problem (more details the better) It was playing fine yesterday. Today when I go to load it, it gets to the menu to select the neighborhood, and then it says "Enter neighborhood description here..." or something generic like that instead of the standard description, and it won't load any neighborhood I click on. It gets two shiny bars loaded on the blue neighborhood screen and then stalls. I finally had to force-quit the program, which fortunately worked. I tried several times with each neighborhood. So, I tried moving the EA Games file out of my Documents folder onto my desktop. Then it started fine, but of course all my families/neighborhoods are gone. I tried adding one neighborhood folder back, and then that neighborhood had the same error where it wouldn't load and gave me the "Enter description" deal, but the other two neighborhoods worked. I tried it with replicating a different old neighborhood folder next, and same problem. So, basically, are all my families gone for good now? I also tried deleting files on my hard drive to make more space, but like I said, it's been playing fine with crappy hard drive space, and it didn't seem to help any to free up some. I haven't downloaded anything, and I haven't used boolprop, though I sometimes use motherlode, which I think is not the same thing. I haven't used any other Sims programs. Is it worth trying to add one file or folder back at a time to see if something in particular is messing it up, or should I just give up and write off all my hard work to build these neighborhoods? :( Thanks for your help -- I appreciate it. I don't know what to do with all my sudden free time.
Just to update that it's the Mac DVD version. I'm able to save a new game so far and get the new saved versions to load, but it's sad to abandon all my older versions. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
