    New And Need Help!! Please!!!

i am new (and addicted:) to the sims. i have all the expansion packs in addition to the deluxe version. i currently bought unleashed and am very pleased. my problem is: after dowloading 2 vehicles from this site, my game will not play. i put them in the download file of maxis-the sims into a file called "cars". in the past there was an "import" file but it's no longer there. after rebooting after the download, now my game won't even play. and all i wanted was a car! so...what do i do? this happened before and i was forced to uninstall, and even restore my computer to a past point only cause i didn't know what else to do. i have windows xp. HELP. please send info on how to fix this and continue to download new items i might want in the future. otherwise, i'm just stuck with what items are in the game itself (not like there aren't plenty, it's just that i'm now obsessed with getting these stupid cars into my game!) what am i missing here?
    thanks
    laura

The first thing I would do is to reinstall unleashed. Then, I would look and make sure all the sims files are there, and the game is working. Then, to add downloads, you either have executable downloads, or zip downloads. With downloads that end in .exe, you double click on them to add them to the game and they install themselves. With downloads that end in .zip, you have to unzip and extract them into the correct folders. Also with xp, it is adviseable that you have a minimum of 256ram for the game to play correctly. Hope this helps.

I recommend objects with .iff files to be placed in gamedata/userobjects folder in the sims
