Could it be that nothing really "good" is on television - and the Sims 2, just seems more or less interesting at this point ? Remember last year when there was a Writer's strike, and a lot of episodes got pulled off the air ? well... my thoughts exactly. Sims 2 just does what everybody wants, an entertaining experience.
