Okay, You Know You've been visiting too Many Message Boards When You can't remember which one the discussion on passing down genetic skin tones was on. I thought it was here, but I can't find it in the search. :( The discussion was talking about alien skin tones, and how that baby could have the father's human charecteristics or the alien "mother" or a combination of the two. Mine is a little more "Earthly". I am wanting a couple to have a bi-racial child. Father has a dark skin tone, black hair, brown eyes. Mom has Black hair also, but a very light skin tone and blue eyes. Both skin tones and eye colors are custom ones I've downloaded, but both hair style are Maxis-made. So the question is what could this baby look like? Think he/she will be dark with blue eyes? (Which is the look I'm going for?) Could the baby have a diffrent skin tone all-together? If I was home I'd show you pictures of the prospective parents.
Nope, that wasn't it, though it was a big help. Thanks Mirelly. This one was about skin tones. Someone was complaining that they didn't get a green alien baby, and someone else explained that the baby could be green, or parent's skin tone, or some sort of blending. I didn't remember how they explained how they could get a blending, and I didn't know if "blending" would apply to custom skin tones, too.
I think we can take it that skin tones are pretty much the same as eye and hair color. Suppose that the darker skin tones are dominant and the lighter ones recessive. Also if very dark goes up against medium dark then outcome is 50:50 ditto for extremely fair for lightly tanned. That leaves the unasnwered question of the in-game alien green ... ooh almost sounds like a movie doesn't it? Erm anyone else seen Soylent Green? ew
Screenshots of the potential parents This is The Potential Daddy, his name is G. And this is Momma. Her name is Scarlett Raven. Guess what Aspiration she is!
Oooh yes, Kristal, I know that Scarlett Raven well ... a proper hussy and no mistake. As they both have custom skin tones and eye color all their children will be hybrids. Each will have genome carrying one each of the parent skin and eye colors. The actual color of each child's ... erm 'bits' (to use what we anatomists like to call a technical term) ... will be a matter of chance. 50:50 in other words. This is because custom genetics is dominant and two dominant traits have to fight it out with each other in the game because (unlike in real life) the game is not equipped to invent the result of unforeseable combinations of custom made genetics. In practise they could have 8 kids all showing pop's dark skin (with mom's pale skin carried but suppressed) and mom's blue eyes (with pop's brown eyes carried but suppressed) Then the 9th kid might start to balance out the 50:50 statistics by being different ....
