Pathfinding Wondered if I'm the only one encountering this, but if theres a toilet right next to a sink in a tiny bathroom, and 2 doors, rather than taking the most direct route (say to the kitchen), the sim decides to take the other route and walk around the entire bathroom, as if the spaces might've been occupied. Just checking if I'm the only one encountering this.
The spaces may be "occupied" by the door, depending on which way the door opens. If walking into the bathroom from that side would result in the door blocking the toilet, then obviously this is why. Always make sure that the toilet is positioned such that the door does not hit the toilet.
Another thing that stops sims using a route is old bits of roof. If you extend a room and fail to alter the roof properly the old roof may remain and block off much of the new space.
That's a possibility, but given the layout and behavior, it sounds more like door-jammage than old roofs. Old roofs would likely render the toilet completely inaccessible.
Absolutely JM. I just added the datum because it fits into the pathfinding category and thus may help some future mendicant with a roof related pathfinding problem (assuming that the fellow has the nous to use the search facility )
Such big words for so early in the morning ... must have coffee ... On topic, I've found it also helps not to have objects someone might use frequently outside the bathroom door. I put the dollhouse there at first and had to move it because toddlers were blocking people from entering or leaving the bathroom ... What can I say, it's a small house and I had to put it somewhere.
