Please Someone Help! Please my downloads are not appearing in the game?! Its sooo annoying because i want to add some cool clothes and stuff! Please Help...Any Help will be appreciated! XxX
There are several reasons why a download would not appear in the game. If you don't have the mesh (framework) for the download, it won't show up. The meshes may be in an Expansion pack (EP), Stuff pack (SP), or a custom made one. If the item is not removed from the .rar or .zip file before putting it in the download folder, it won't appear. If you only have the TS2 basegame (without any EPs or SPs) and have put the downloads into subfolders within your downloads folder, the items will not show up. (They made it so that we could have subfolders within the download folder, I believe in the first EP, Uni, as I recall.) If you made a downloads folder in the Program Files area (where TS1 often put downloads), it won't work. The downloads folder in TS2 is in the My Documents area instead. If you renamed the downloads folder, the items in the downloads folder won't work either. If the item is a recolor of a Maxis object, it may not showup if you haven't installed the Colour Enable Program (CEP). Hopefully I covered all the possible ways it could fail to work.
Each item of clothing that you download will require its own mesh. As KatAnubis explained, the mesh may already be in the game if the download is simply a recoloring of an outfit that came with the game. Or with one of the Expansion Packs, like University, or Nightlife, in which case you'd have to buy the Expansion Pack. The site where you got the download should let you know if one of these Expansion Packs is required for that item of clothing. You can order these EPs online or go to a store and buy them. If the mesh does not come with the game or one of its EPs, then the site where you downloaded the clothing should tell you where to get the mesh they used. They should, and usually do, provide a link to the mesh itself, or to the mesh's creator. But look carefully because it can be in small or obscure print . If they don't, then you need to ask them where to get it. I usually get clothes from sites that include the mesh with the download, like this one: http://www.all-about-style.com/index.html. It makes life a lot easier.
I found I had this problem after installing Pets. When I installed downloads they were for some reason becoming import files and going to the teleport folder. I only solved the problem by totally reinstalling the game (this is presuming you are installing the mesh).
