Printer maintenance I have (had) a Hewlett Packard A3 printer which worked reasonably well until around six months ago. It insisted upon printing only in the very best quality (very slowly) and in the poorer qualities it striated (I have been longing to use that word, but I'll bet I have spelled it wrongly) (striped) the ink pattern. My hardware engineer (I have a tame one in the family) took it to bits (it took for ever) and said it is so incredibly dirty that that is what is probably causing the trouble. He still hasn't got it working. I have ordered another new one now. Printers apparently require cleaning periodically and are so designed that it is quite impossible to clean them unless you have infinite patience and a degree in computer studies. That printer is four years old. Why do manufacturers so design their machines? Is there a printer that is differently designed? I knew a chap who was qualified in electronics and his video recorder went wrong. He took it to bits and found out exactly what was wrong and went to buy the part. The part was dearer than the entire machine was new. He did what we all do. He threw it away and bought another.
I own a Canon..ugh it was annoying with all its aligning... Finally got rid of it and bought an epson. Been happy with it ever since Low maintence, high quality, and best of all.....no streaking
