    problem entering cheat code-nothing works.

    Hi,
I did not see this listed when I was searching the forums. I just received the Sims 2 Holiday Edition for Christmas. I was trying to enter the cheat codes and nothing happens. For example I enter "motherload" when the line appears. The line then changes from a single line to about a 1/4 of the screen. It will then say >motherload. Nothing changes in the game though. This happens for any cheat code I enter. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have not changed anything - all I did was load it and start playing.

    thank you.

If the cheat box expands from being one line to multiple, then it means that you entered an invalid code. Generally, that's because you've either typed in an extra symbol at the beginning or the end, or because you've spelled something wrong but didn't notice it. The mind has a way of playing tricks on us. Generally if the first part of the word and the last part of the word are correct, our mind reads the whole word. So, perhaps instead of using "motherlode" you've used "mothrelode", your brain might see them as being the same.

However, if the way you spelled it is "motherload" I can see why it won't work. The word is "motherlode". It's "lode" as in "vein of precious metal" not "load" as in "many things being carried."

The codes still work if the cheat box is expanded. I sometimes will deliberately expand it (either by a purposeful mistake or by just typing "expand") when I want to type in multiple codes at the same time. (Like a whole series of motherlodes or when I want to build and I need moveobjects, snapobjects, constrainfloor elevation and allow45degree angle all at the same time.)

To get the box to go back to normal, type in "expand". To get the box to go away in the expanded way (so that you can type in more codes at a time later), just type "exit".
