Question about Merola's Painting Will Merola's painting, or another hack, let me change family relationships? I have sims I created "after the fact" who are supposedly related to other sims. Just thought it would be cool if I could reflect that in the game.
The insiminator will, click on spawn, family relations... something or other. Then if you click on the item that appears, it has the option to make fill in sims name here my mother/father/sister/wife/brother...etc. I'm not sure about Merola's painting. Insiminator also gives you the option to get pregnant by people of the same gender, not by doing whoo-hoo, but just clicking on the option "get pregnant by someone here" and then the name of the person you want to be the other parent. I used this with one of my lesbian couples and it turned out great, they are both the parents of the two children they had, and each wife got to take turns being pregnant. I haven't tried this on men yet, but I'm assuming it would work the same.
Thanks! So, it hasn't had any adverse affects on your game? Will it let me change a family relationship? For example, make someone not related to someone, or related in a different way? I prefer not to have same-sex babies because that doesn't happen in RL, but being able to add new family members would be great.
Yes, it lets you change family relationships. I think I made a couple of townies related to someone. I've never had any adverse effects from it so far. The reason I use it for my lesbian couples is I figures half of the time they would have gone to a sperm bank and tried to match the looks to their spouse as close as possible. Both parents would then feel like the biological mother, so that's why I do it with the insiminator...now my male couples are still forced to adopt, because that is obviously not realistic at all. Another thing I use it for regularly is when those darn annoying townie children come by, I pause the game. The insiminator will allow you to click on anyone then has the option to select them and make them playable in your lot. I do that to those townies, then with the insiminator it has the option to grow-me-up-now. So I do that and then they are teens, what's cool is that you can even choose their aspiration and new look, just like a normal birthday, but of course you can't choose what they are wearing. But it's nice, and no more annoying kids coming home on the bus generation after generation. Then just click on the new teen, select, make them not playable again and they will continue on their way, now a teen and it's never effected my game play there either. We'll have to get together and I can show you what all it can do.

Makes sense to me. You can't have a baby, you don't have a womb! Where's the fetus going to gestate, in a box?
