Saving disabled (use of boolprop?) Hey, this is my first post here as I am baffled! I've been playing the sims 2 for aaaages, but I've been using the boolprop cheat for some time. Now I have milked this cheat and now my save/neighbourhood/quit buttons are disabled. I'm not sure when i last saved, is there any ctrl alt shift c text way of manually saving or does anyone have any other methods of solving this? i have "falsed" boolprop but still nothing!
The game will sometimes disable the save/etc button when it's in the middle of something like a car driving off the lot, a housefire or lightning strike in progress, the social worker coming to take a child away or other things. You have to wait for those to be over before it will let you save or escape.
If all else fails and you are really unwilling to exit without saving. You will need to re-enable debug mode (boolprop) and then Shift Clcik the mailbox and choose Force Errors. There will then follow a long sequence of error messages, one for every item in the game (to give you an idea, each floor tile is an item ... also every destination that a sim is heading for is an item ... and so on.) For each error message read it to see what it relates to and choose an option (Reset or Delete) Delete will physically removed the item from the game. If that is a sim it won't matter because the family members will be regenerated on restart ... hopefully with all memories and skills intact (although if the game is badly broken this isn't guaranteed). Any items you delete will be lost for ever ... but items are unlikely to be causing the problem. The problem will be a sim; either one who is about to die or undergo some other major change, or one who is stuck "off world" and unable to get back because the lot's entrance-portal is blocked. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DELETE THE MAILBOX AND TRASHCAN. That will keep you busy for a long while ... and I can't even guarantee that you'll be able to save after it's all over. Also once you start the Force Errors routine you can't stop it ... it has to run to the bitter end. If you intend to play with debug mode active in future please make sure that you have the FFS Lot Debugger in your Downloads folder and that you make the habit of buying one for every house you play ... then when things like this occur you have an awesomely powerful tool availble to beat the recalcitrant game into submission with ... oh look, I ended a sentence with conjunction, better add some ellipsis .... Good luck.
