Serious Expansions Problem Ok, so I have all of the expansions, and, after switching an irrelevant harddrive out, I got a message that popped up as soon as I reached the main menu. It goes as follows: You have uninstalled Sims 2 University (Nightlife, OFB, Family). If you continue, your college neighborhoods.....etc, etc. It did this for all of the expansions. The secondary neighborhoods buttons are grayed out, meaning I can't click on the shopping district, universities ect. I can still play the original Sims 2, but not the expansions. The Expansions are still all there, and untouched. Ugh, please help!
I have the same problem, but the sims 2 only sees my last installed expansion (ofb with me). The famile fun stuff expansion only includes items right? If that's your last installed expansion, maybe you should see if those items are available to buy. My thread with the problem: http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=9388
Nope The items are gone, and I can't even uninstall the expansions now. I click the Uninstall icon and nothing happens.
Lordnizzle. If your are capable of ripping out an "irrelevant" hard drive I suggest that you perform an uninstall of the whole game. First using the Start Menu ... All Programs ... EA Games ... The Sims 2 ... Uninstall Then double check in Control Panel ... Add/Remove Programs (to make sure Windows doesn't still think it is there. Then go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\ and delete all the Sims 2 folders and content Then Run the registry editor: Start >> Run >> type exactly the word: regedit and press OK Click File then Export and choose a name for your back-up copy and somewhere to save it ... that is your insurance if you goof this up. Then start removing all traces of the The Sims 2 from your registry. (Don't do this until you have laid hands on the serial numbers of each expansion ... the registry contains those numbers if you happen to have lost them. Got the numbers? Made your back-up? OK (If you screw this up the responsibility is yours and not mine ... take heed! Doing this wrong will screw Windows and force you to use the back-up ... So I take no responsibility for carelessness, OK? ) Open up the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EA GAMES\ delete all the Sims 2 folders in there Now go to HKEY_LOACAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\ delete all the Sims 2 folders in there This'll test if you're paying attention cos now it gets sneaky Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\ delete all the Sims 2 folders in there That's it. You've eradicated the game from the puter. Close the registry editor (File >> Exit ... ) I would also empty your recycle bin and then defrag before reinstalling the game. Note that if you have any problems with any expansion pack DO NOT carry on and install more ... you're just pouring oil on the fire
Noo As I said before, I cant uninstall it. Neither from Add/Remove programs and from the game folder itself. I could try an even more manual install, but im just wondering what the problem itself it. When I tried to overwrite install Nightlife (repair), then it said that Sims 2 was installed incorrectly, and uninstalled itself. Also, my girlfriend accidently clicked OFP, before I knew that it worked, and when in to play, the entire neighborhood was gone.
So perform the manual uninstall! Wossup widya. Windows makes a record in its registry of what is done. If a program is improperly or imperfectly uninstalled, or in some other way damaged, then it can neither be run nor installed nor unistalled until the registry is repaired. If you can't handle that then give up and quit. But don't keep moaning about it, ok?
