Sims 2 running incredibly slow on Mac I just bought the Sims 2 for Mac, and the game is running really, really slowly and loading just as slowly. I'm not very computer literate, but it seems to me that it shouldn't take 5-10 minutes to load the neighborhood, and then 10-15 minutes just to load the family/house. Moving the camera in the game also is very, very slow. I know the game gets slower as your house/family gets bigger, but I just have a 2 person family and a very small house. Any ideas on how to improve the speed of the game? Specs: 1] 867MHz CPU 2] 1152MB 3] 20.85GB free hard drive space 4] 37.26GB total hard drive space 5] GeForce4 MX graphic card 6] Graphic card driver version: 5212 7] DirectX version: was unable to find this info 8] Mac OS 10.4 operating system 9] Sims 2 DVD version I don't have any expansion packs, mods, or hacks. I'm not sure if I got the right information for the specs... I wasn't quite sure where to look on a Mac.
I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to Macs, but how old is your Mac? I'm not sure if Macs have dual cores like PC, but if that is a single CPU that is 867Mhz, it's pretty old (I think - I'm just basing that guess on if it was a PC, as an 867 Mhz PC would be extremely old). Also, I doubt this will help, but give it a shot, try updating the game with the latest patch: http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=18775
