    Sims 3 problems....

    So,
I start the sims 3 and then it works just fine. After a while (5-10 min.) it freezes up and the screen goes black. I do the Alt-Ctrl-Delete thing and end the program. Half the time this works, half the time this dont. Finally it exits out of the program and thecolor is at 8-bit color or what ever and the screen reselution is at 600x800. The computer meets all of the game's system requirements. I had the same problem with sims 2...

    HELP PLEASE

Much of the information above can be (and if you're in any doubt should be) gotten by running dxdiag

    dxdiag
can be run on any Windows Machine by following these instructions:
    • Click the Start button
    • Click Run (bottom of the right-hand half of Start Menu)
    • In the pop-up box, type in dxdiag
    • Click the OK button and wait for the 'puter to chug through its business. (May take a few minutes)
    • Items 1 thru 6 in the list above are to be found on the dxdiag report's main tab that is labelled System
    • Items 7 thru 9 will be answered on the Display tab

    no
Is this a laptop or desktop computer?
If it's a laptop you're pretty much screwed but if it's desktop and you have a compatible graphics slot in it then there may be a ray of hope.
If it is a desktop open the case and look inside it for what's called a expansion slot.
For graphics cards you'll want either an agp slot or an pci-express slot.
Click my name and I have some pics in my gallery of different slots.
You will also need to know the max wattage output of the power supply.
while you have the case side off look up in the top of the case at the power supply (big metal box with lots of wires coming out of it) for a tag or label that says something like 300 watts max output.
If you're not sure about the slot take a pic of it so we can see the part of the motherboard below the cpu (has a big fan sitting on it) where the slots are located.
