Someone please help! My Sims 2 is smearing across my screen!

    Hi,
I need serious help. My Sims 2 is smearing across my screen, they're bodies are off contact of the Sim and they become fat. And, I'm not very good with laptops! Plllllease help?
I have a ATI Radeon X2100, and it is made by ATI Technologies Inc.
    And help is very appreciated.

swmeek I got your benevolent dictator pal!!

Go to the manufacturers website for your laptop and download the latest video drivers they have there.
Have you recently added any new expansions to your game since it started doing this ?
Also if you're playing on huge lots with lots of content on the lot it might do this as well.
Integrated video chipsets and laptops in general are simply not good gaming machines unless you spend ALOT of money on one.
Try playing a small lot without a lot of sims on it and see if it helps.
Also turning off anything running in the background will help free up computer resources which weill help your game run faster.
By this I mean your internet connection,firewall.anti-virus and any spyware programs you might have going at the moment.
Also if you could post a dxdiag of your system it would help too.
Click the start button and then click the run option.
In the box type in dxdiag and let it run.
When it's done click the save all information and save it to your desktop as a txt file.
When your done right mouse click it and send it to a compressed (zipped) file.
Please post this in your reply as an attachment or copy and paste the contents of the txt file in your reply.

    Ok..

Ok, I'm going to try those.. But which update is it? There's 32-Bit Edition, or 64-Bit Edition?
I have added expansions, but I just added them one after another, so I don't know if it was smearing the whole time. Sorry.
    Okay, I attached it.

    Gah..!

I tried installing the latest video driver. It didn't work. I tried turning off the internet connection as well, it didn't work. I kept everything closed, and only played the game with no luck..
    :(

I see no reasons why you're having problems now other than the crappy graphics chip you have.
The 32 or 64 bit version depends on which operating system you have installed.
More than likely you'll have the 32 bit version but check your laptop to be sure.
It should have told you in your documentation that came with the laptop.
I take you got several expansions for Christmas or just went out and bought them in a rush?
My suggestion then (if the video driver doesn't help) is to uninstall everything and start over with the Sims2 and then go in order of expansion pack reinstalling them.
As you install each expansion make a copy of your Sims2 folder in your Documents folder (not the program files one) and save each one in case.
Do this before you install the next pack and test each one out before you install a new one so as to make sure everything is looking like it should.
Once you install a pack and test it then install another one.
What expansions did you have installed after this all happened?
Installing too many packs for this chipset to handle is why everything went Kaboom.

    I did..

I did that already: I unistalled them all, then reinstalled them and I am als doing them in the order they were released in. I didn't do the saving the files to another location, but it -was- working, then all of a sudden it wasn't. My friend helped me out, and I installed a different video driver, but that didn't help either. :(

    Also..

The Brandi Broke house works just fine, compared to the other houses I tried to create. I haven't had any trouble there, really. And I even expanded the house!

Probably the smaller the lot the better it will play.
Small lots are easier to play on integrated graphics chips as opposed to a regular video card.
The same would go for community lots too.
The less people the better it will play.

    Thanks..

Well, should I just trade in my Seasons for a stuff pack?? Do you think that will work better?
Also, do you think Bon Voyage will work?

I doubt you would be able to trade it as it's been opened and most stores won't let you return an opened game unless it's for another copy of the same game.
No Bon Voyage will be just as bad as Seasons on your laptop.
You should be ok with stuff packs though as they're just content although large lots with a lot of content will be hard on your system.
