I've considered getting a psp or nintendo ds, but i might just keep with my gameboy advance, i mean, a portables a portable right?
The PSP's got most of the PS2's third-party developers backing it up, but it's kinda inferior to the DS in the hardware department, not to mention it costs the same(?) as a brand new PS2, too. I could get a 'Cube and about 2 classic games for the price of the PSP right now. So no thanks. I'd rather have an SP. It's got a compact design, a backlight, and it's own adapter, and backward compatability with a library of great GB games. What's not to like?
Are you kidding me? i have both and the PSP blows away the DS in the hardware department and everything. i already have my DS up on ebay selling it because after playing PSP i know i'll never play my DS again. PSP is amazing. Its close to PS2 graphics and far better than PS1. DS can barely even get to n64 level.
Okay.. My question to you, Mattvols, is: Does your PSP have the dead pixel, "sticky" Square button, or the problematic UMD ejecting? 'Cause I've heard that those are the most serious problems with the PSP and are "quite" common. Currently I only have the GBA... and that's all I really need. I haven't played it in about 2 months now and I don't feel like spending $400 on a PSP or $200 on a DS when I can use that money to save for something much cooler, and a bit more practical. Also neither has any great games yet so it would be a waste of money for me to buy them both this soon. So overall I'm going to have to say nay for me buying either one of these systems.
The Gaplox Coorporation, after a thorough market-share analysis, has decided to begin the developement of its new portable gaming device/cellphone/defribillator/thermostat/iron: The Neo-Swan Gearboy. At this time we're not at liberty to divulge specific system specs, but be sure to check back at a later time for more details. All I can say is that the NSGB will re-evolutionize the portable gaming industry, and make your shoes smell really nice.
Oink, I never thought the day would come when you announce a product from my own company without me knowing about it. I need to fire Phil from Research and Technology..
lol Snake. I never knew psp and ds cost that much! I could buy about 10 games for that much . O well, i'll just leave the portables then . But as for the hardware discussion, psp has better graphics with just getting ps2 graphics and ds has slightly over n64 graphics, as for gameplay that's...more opinion, lol, depends what games u like i guess, everything else i'm unsure of but if i had to get one i'd probably go for ds because it's cheaper but the touch screen might take a bit of getting used to

i have not have ANY problems thus far with my PSP. I love the thing i've been playing it nonstop since I got it. I'm not a Sony fanboy if thats what you are thinking because this is the only sony game system I have. I sold my PS2 long ago because it was so bad compared to the Xbox. To say the PSP is inferrior to the DS in hardware is unfounded and plain wrong. Ask anyone who knows the specs and have reviewed the two and they will always go in the PSP's favor. I am only using this thing is a game system because the movie, music, and pictures features arent that great
Er, actually my error. I trusted someone on the price, and they were wrong.. For the system alone (here) it costs $298 (cloth + case). But for the value pack it's $346 (which includes 1 game and a UMD movie + cloth/case, etc.) Not as bad as I originally thought, but still pricey for a handheld nothing-the-less.

At the moment I cant see any reason for buying a portable because the only place I would bring it is to school, and the risk of it being taken or broken is pretty high.. LoL... so I dont really see a reason for getting one.. I would rather save for a computer anyway.. a lot more possibilities..
