The game crashes when the car should be arriving So here goes: P4 2.6 GHz 512 Mb free space 5 gig total 60 gig GeForce FX 5600 driver version 61.77 DX 9.0c winXP Pro CD version The game always crashes when the car is due to arrive and take him to work. Any suggestions other than killing background processes will be welcome. (I've tried that) Thank you in advance
Goto My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs and see if you can find something called Sims2Exception and look for one with a date when it crashed. Post your finds in here

something like this similar happened to me but in a different game. it was gta 3 on my pc, and at the very begging it would drag and then the car would stop and it would just freeze and i dont remember if it crashed, but i could never get any further. we called the store we got it from and found out it was something with the video card? unforunitley i could never play the game! but we did get a new computer. i doubt its the memory, i have every sims game installed on my computer, a bunch of other stuff, AND the sims 2, and we still have plenty of memory . id call the store and ask them! they can help ? You may have a fragmented drive, so the game couldn't find what it needed off the drive. With free space 5 gig out of a total total 60 gig, you've got that drive pretty overloaded. It takes a drive being 15% free to do a proper disc defrag. And gaming fragments a drive faster than business programs and is more sensitive to drive fragmentation than a business program. For the game, it's sort of like trying to find the right book in a library when no one has put the books back on the shelf.
