    the patch won't run

When ever I try to run the Sims 2 patch to fix the errors on my game, it asks for disc 4. After trying to go through disc 4, it says that there was an error during installization. What is this and what can I do to make the patch run?

It is likely that you have installed a patch (hack or mod) that has changed one of the main game files.

If you haven't got University (which patches the game anyway ... another cause for error??) then make a copy of your saved games folder (My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/) and then uninstall the game and reinstall it before trying to patch again.

okay.... here goes... coping saved games moving download file do I have to re-install all the downloads too?

ARRRgh!!! Uni gets to 64% support\*.* and stops loading...... any clues of what my options are now?

Actually decided to reinstall everything because of not being able to even buy a changing table without the game freezing and lately the sims would go to clear the table and then put the dishes down in the same exact spot. So here is what I did: copied download file (way to much junk it there, took 15 minutes to copy to desktop) Then re installed ts2. uni was getting to about 64% forever so aborted and installed the ts2 update/patch thingy. then installed uni using the custom path (only leaving it to read the default path). Success!! It is amazing how fast the game boots up with almost no custom stuff in it. (but I really miss pes' hacks; so they are going to find their way back in, somehow.)

so now I have the perfect opportunity to organize my downloads right: so should I just dump everything in the "download" file and let the game sort it or create sub files i.e.: wall, floors, clothes etc. or just give the custom stuff to the "file maid" and not worry about it,

Wardrobe items have to go in the root downloads folder but stuff like Pescado's hacks can go into sub-folders.
