Though Ive got to say, I've been so impressed with the Christmas Trees the community members have been making on their own. I continue to be blown away by your creativity and ingenuity. Thats why Im super-excited to give you the best holiday gift I can think of (and you thought we were done with the giving...). You guys get the exclusive announcement today, and tomorrow on the thesims2.com, The Sims 2 HomeCrafter Plus will be available for everyone to download. Customize Walls, Floors, and Ground Textures to your hearts content. I know weve been really quiet about it, but isnt it better as a surprise? Deck the walls with lots of jpegs... OMG!! Yes, I love this tool already! I will make screens of wall textures from other games and use them to make walls here. I especially want an Ivy Castle wall and Lichen Covered Brick. Woot Woot!!

rubs hands in glee. . . My Sims are dreaming of a white Christmas, and now they'll get one!!! YAHOO!!! I never did figure out how to recolor and make floors and walls with TS1, but now I'm gonna learn!!
I am loving this new homecrafter program I just wish they had included objects like furniture in it :(
Great. Now all they have to do is allow us to make "skins" for our objects and I'll be set for another 4 months...
I'm looking forward to that too, but at this point, I'm still waiting for my copy of Homecrafter Plus to show up. It's too big for my dialup to handle and events have conspired to prevent my husband from getting it downloaded by a buddy of ours who has cablemodem. However, I think it was JMP or MJ who posted a way to use SimPE to change the "skins" on our objects, at least in terms of a recolor.
That is precisely what I was talking about. I'll do a little research, and hopefully, later tonight I will actually have beds and dressers that match. You have dialup too? It's awful, huh... well, hope that when you get it downloaded, you enjoy it.
Josh, dialup is horrible enough, and that's at the best of times when you can manage 45.2 kbps. Now, there are circumstances (i.e. weather) that can slow 45.2 kbps down to 14.4 kbps. Yes, I'm dead serious: it does happen here, somewhat often, because of old telephone wires outside that are effected by wind and moisture. If said speed was reduced to 14.4 kbps, downloading even a file as small as 800 kb seems to be a task that takes forever.
I tried downloading it, but it was still too big for my dialup. More than 2mb and it seems to muck up (which makes it hard to even download most of the stuff off the official Exchange). But my husband got it downloaded at our friend's house, so I now just have to install it (and the network thing that SimPE requires that also was downloaded for me there.) I've just had too much to do like wrapping packages like mad to be able to do it. (That and the TS2 list has been bonkers and I think that there are only 3 of us actively on the boards this week. Either that or the "kiddies" have been trying to have coal instead of presents at their house.)
Okay, maybe I'm just super-slow tonight, or blind, or I've misunderstood something.... you could download the program only for two days, or is it still available on the official website? I've looked and looked and I cannot find it. If it's still downloadable, could someone please provide me with a link to the download or the page it's on?
