The Sims 2 System Requirements A lot of questions have been going on about the system requirements needed to run The Sims 2. At this point, let me say THESE ARE THE OFFICIAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS. System Requirements: If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM then you need at least: 800 MHz processor or better 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000 At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least: 2.0 GHz processor or better 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000 At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space Get the most current driver for your video card. The manufacturers usually have the video drivers on their sites for you to download. Visit the nVidia site, the ATI site or the support site for your computer's manufacturer for the latest drivers for those video cards. Supported video cards (and the more video memory the better): ATI RadeonTM series (7000 or better) Radeon 7000/VE series (non-T&L; requires 2.0 GHz processor) 7200, 7500 8500, All-In-Wonder 8500 9000, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800 X300, X600, X800 Nvidia QuadroTM series Quadro, Quadro2, Quadro4 Nvidia Geforce series (GeForce2 and better) GeForce2 GeForce3, 3 Ti GeForce4, 4Ti, MX 420, 440 GeForce FX 5200, 5600, 5700, 5800, 5900, 5950 GeForce 6600, 6800 Intel Extreme Graphics (non-T&L; requires 2.0 GHz processor) 82845, 82865, 82915 From the nVidia website's glossary Transform & Lighting (T&L) definition: Two separate engines on the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) that provide for a powerful, balanced PC platform and enable extremely high polygon count scenes. Transform performance determines how complex objects can be and how many can appear in a scene without sacrificing frame rate. Lighting techniques add to a scene's realism by changing the appearance of objects based on light sources. Some other notes about video cards: T&L video cards started shipping around 4 years ago, so if you got your computer in the last couple of years you should check and see if you have a T&L card. Note they are subject to change at any time.
Wow, those would have to be sheer minimum at least. My advice is, even if you hear official recommended specs, go just that bit further to be safe.
Thank you ManagerJosh for the requirements. However Will Wright said in an interview "You cant have a computer that wont run the game" Though I am going to delete the original Sim games so it will run. (sorry if I saod it to casually, Im new and dont want to get on the wrong side of things)
nah no worries crazy But remember those specs aren't official so we don't know what Will Wright is setting the specs to be
i also read that interview with Will Wright, and from what i read in that, the first specs seemed a litte more realistic compared to the second.
yea i hope maxis sayz the official requirements bout the sims 2 soon i really wanna no jus incase i need to get another computer or sumtin
that would be a smart idea. If someone where to not know about the requirments and preordered then they could get pretty upset and/or mad for maxis not telling them before hand so they culd prepare!
Yes they are holding back alot but look at how much longer it has till it comes out:( they need to spread it out over time
