The Sims more fun? Does n e one have any tips on how to make the sims more fun? i have the first one through vacation and i've given up on buying the new ones cuz it just takes up more space on my computer but i still like to play it, but it's just the same ol thing all the time...it's kinda boring...any tips??
Hi Tina. I don't mean to mean to be rude but nobody can tell you how to have fun. Us real-life folks are not like The Sims because we generally find a way to have fun with whatever is at hand. In a world of plenty it is not surprising that we are free to pick and choose the things that give us the most fun. If you're finding that The Sims isn't working for you then leave it alone. Tina's question made me think though, and I suspect there are many reasons why folks play the game. And most people probably play it for different reasons at different times! It seems reasonable, to me at least, that there must also be a number of different reasons why people grow tired of playing the game. For me it is always that darned unreasonable Fun bar. Why-O-why can't a Sim gain at least a little fun out of socialising? Why does a date have to and in disaster because no Sim ever has any fun (ie "enjoys themself") just having a meal with some good company? Obviously the 'fun-factor' would have to be variable ... some folks are just more fun to be with that others ... I really hope that issues of this sort are one of the reasons why Maxis is taking extra time to "fine tune" TS2
I dunno but for me I go in waves of playing and not. If I find that im getting bored of Sims I just quit playing for awhile and then come back to it when something inspires me to and I end up playing like it was the first time I had ever played. I even stop using cheats just so the game isnt so "easy" to play to put more incentive (sp?) into what im doing. So maybe just leaving your game for a bit might help but dont forget completly about your little sims! Although I have to say that Making Magic boosted my playing time alot because it has alot of really cool stuff you can do to make the game more interesting. Maybe try making a story with your sims, that can be fun creating new places to fit into a story or something like that.
I agree with both Mirelly and Irish Dragon...we make our own fun from it BUT when I get bored with it I leave it alone for awhile until I get inspired again. I also used the Sims game to plan renovations to my house then ran a family of Sims through it to see what they like and didn't like. This amused me for AGES! Some of the renovations though ended up being far too extraordinary for practical use but it was still fun to dream. Aaahhh if only I could use that Rosebud cheat in real life!
I tend to go in cycles with my interest in playing my sims game too. Sometimes I focus mainly on working up one sim or one sim family through the different goals I think up to aim for, like trying to play the game without the money cheat and starting with a tiny house and the cheapest everything, and working up to remodeling the tiny house to a really nice big house for the lot it's on, with the most expensive fancy everything. Or I try to have my sims make it to the top of EVERY career track... or I try to have them make friends with EVERYONE... hmmm... I haven't ever managed either of those last two, but I'm having fun playing with those goals in mind. Sometimes I just start designing houses and decorating them with no family to move into them yet, sometimes I start making my own skins or recoloring stuff for my game as I kind of make up what kind of taste my different sims families have. If you're not having fun, try approaching the game in a different way, or just take a break and do something else.
Try writing a short screenplay on The Sims... What would happen if you tempt with a comic x anime project. Finding an original story, let along an imaginative one is hard to come by. I bought the sims to help me understand how characters react so differently. Surprises do occur when you absolutely think, a certain one is as predictable as the daily newspaper --- their thoughts, feelings change. It's a launching pad... From there, I felt that I could write better short stories - after playing with the sims. Characters can be complex, and can drive the subplot unexpected ways. Accidents are learned through this. No other game made me "think" or "question" as this one does. --- Who knows if Sims 2 is simular or better. What does matter is what you get out of the experience. T. Gallagher
[thought balloon]Only Her second post. Okay.[/thought balloon] I think You took the first step by coming here (or any other Sims fansite, for that matter), where You can download skins/houses/objects etc. in order to add a little variety to Your game. Plus, You can tell stories/submit blogs, which could give You some inspiration. I also suggest getting the rest of the expansion packs (but I think You're trying to save computer space), since more of those means more things You can do on there. In case You're wondering, this is how I make The Sims fun (even though My stories/blogs never get off the ground).
Hi John, the thread starter (tinabeana) is long gone from here. Her last post was in February 2004, and she only ever posted twice. Your reply is not gonna reach her. Please try to avoid resurrecting old threads - we prefer them to stay in the past, especially one that's as old as this one. You're more than welcome to start a new thread though. Check the thread dates to avoid resurrection, and also check that the person you're replying to is still an active member - do this by clicking on their name and selecting 'View Public Profile'. There it will say when that person last visited. Thanks.
