the Warcraft Night Elf - by mAster_Inept

ok, this is new thread for the war3 night elf i'm makin, i figured i shudn't keep on hijackin livi's thread so yeah...

rite now, i'm making a few really BASIC CRAPPY meshes (i'm only a novice ok!!!) so what i do have is a shoulder pad mesh...

now, i wud REALLY appreciate someone who knows something about this whole thing to make a texture template for it or something...the mesh is currently avail. as a .3ds mesh, anyone who wants to get it, buzz me and i will send it along.

PLEASE, DO NOT TAKE THIS WORK, I TRUST YOU AND AM HAPPY TO PASS IT ALONG, BUT I JUST NEED IT TEXTURED. I DON'T MIND GIVING CREDIT TO SOMEONE ELSE FOR TEXTURES (or even just the texture template, i can do the rest), BUT I LIKE TO THINK THE MESH WAS MY WORK. :(

anyway, anything anyone has that they can do for me is appreciated :)

I haven't learned enough about meshing to make texture templates yet, but I'm interested in hearing how your project works out, especially if you can find someone to work with you and figure out how to add your shoulderpads to the Maxis mesh and have it work in Body Shop! :D

    update:

have since figured out (with lots of help from friend) how to do UV maps and have a texture in the works (i think).

    will have some renders soon.

    Thanks Fae as always

    ...bout those renders...

here we have the first renders of the shoulder pad.

note that the texture is pretty incomplete.

the feathers bit i'm more or less happy with, but this was a first quick and simple texture so yeah. in any case, i'm going to improve the actual armour bit...its...well...crap.

anyway, i've posted a texture template so anyone who wants to do up a texture, feel free. also if anyone wants the mesh, it's also available.

    *note*
so far, i'm an amateur. TRUST ME. i have NO IDEA how my stuff comes together, but it does. as such, don't complain if you hate my meshes. fix them if you want and post them here with your own credits attached. your work will be credited in any final release i manage.

    thanks.

Wow, it's looking good to me!! :D I love the feathers! The shine on the shoulder pads might be a little harsh from a distance, I notice it looks more like design lines in the thumbnail version, but WOW I'm blown away at how good it looks! Just one burning question... how do you plan to attach the shoulder pad mesh to the Sims 2 mesh so it becomes part of it and you can have your elf with shoulder pads in Body Shop?

edit- PS What's the poly count on the shoulderpads with all those feathers?!

    ...ok...

been a while since i've come here...

The textures in that render are...well they were there for testing purposes only. further, i intend to add the whole set as one clothing mesh...or as top and bottom...As for polycount, i intend to cut it down a bit for the actual ingame version...this one was just for a render.

in any case, i've redone the mesh into a simpler form (less feathers unfortunately, but it's hadly noticeable) and i've had a friend do up a good, proper texture, that'll be posted soon...

it's been a while since i've had enough time to work on this... :(

in any case, suggestions for the next project welcome...(source art would help too)

PS, submit some textures to me ppl!!! i can't do this bit well and anyone who can please do

PPS, i've noticed the template has ten views...and it didnt' show up on mine..(not good) i'd probably save it from the link or some such...sorry :D

Can you post a pic of the simplified feathers? :D If you're looking for a way to do better textured feathers you might do a google image search for feathers or birds and if you find pics that are free to use (NOT copyrighted, but Public Domain) you could try to line up the feather pics with the feathers of your mesh.... if that makes sense. :)
