Too much time online? Hehe, hello everyone! I read that simsAddict post, and decided to make a branch off it. How do you know if you spend too much time chatting/posting online? Here are some signs to say whether or not you are an official chat/posting addict. -You spend weekends online -U no wot this sais. -You're a chronic user of showing symbols to relay emotions. =D, , ect. -You refer to "real life" as your life off-line. -You can only speak your mind using text. -Your handwriting is complete crap. -You have "magic powers." -You enjoy picking on newbies. -You get by on the comfort that someday your online hottie and you will meet. -After spending a weekend offline you come back and make a vow to never again leave, when you miss out on all the "adventures." -You can speak japanese. And boast that quite loudly. -You're more understood as somebody on the interent inside of a chat than you are inside of your own family. -You have a permanent butt mark within the seat of your chair. -You actually talk in the third person. -You have more friends online than you do "in real life." -You say laugh out loud by accident when you think something is funny. -You can type at about 80wpm. Hmm. . .looks like I might be an addict.
Hi, my name is Froggie, and I'm a chat addict. That's interesting....I refer to "real life" as my life ON-line...... And I frequently have problems with talking in the third person, and often find myself wishing I can put people (my boss :bandit: ) on ignore. :bunny:
I am online almost the entire time I am awake, I am defienately addicted. It is my social life, and yes, I have more online friends than real life friends. *now, where did I need to go next?* *big hugs*
Well by Kinzee's list of addiction signs, I'm not quite there yet but admit that sometimes it is very interesting to meet people in chats that you would never meet in "real" life...on the other hand, I do find it a bit annoying when some people in the chat take it too seriously and get too possessive, etc. of their boyfriend/girlfriend in the chat and don't like anyone even talking to them...I enjoy talking here in the forum and at the simchat (at least in a PG-rated site one doesn't have all the pickup garbage one faces elsewhere!) but I do find that it is easier to be misunderstood in this mode than in real life where the tone of your voice, body language, etc. help define your words... And, Froggie....LOL..At the rate I'm going maybe I'll be able to say that too! Hello my name is Book and I, too, am a chat addict!
Well, it's certainly more interesting online. The UnReal (i.e. not chat or online) world is pretty boring at times. :bunny: Froggie, proud member of the CAA :bunny:
I'm usually on every single second when someone isn't using the computer. I'm gonna be on every second when I get my own computer, so besides by crack addiction, I'll be a forum addict.
I think that going on line is largely a waste of time. It doesn't teach you anything and doesn't get you an inch further forward in any game at all. However, it is also important. You might be a bit drained after trying to work out the game that going on line is the best release there is? I must admit that I like it. It gives me a chance to meet lots of different kinds of people who live in some places that I would never get to in a thousand years (assuming I could live that long).
LOL Froggie!! I agree that being online can be an incredible waste of time but hey, I would rather be here than mopping another floor or changing another kid's diaper or darning my hubby's socks or....well, you get the picture!! lol Besides, the option of this and/or watching another rerun of Friends...I choose here because at least here, I can actually inter-relate with other people....rather than passively allowing someone to program my mind with their thoughts and humor... Besides, with the amount of time I spend alone...the only place to socialize in my small town is the bar where all the lushes hang out and I much prefer talking here or in the chat than listening to some drunken sot!!
I just saw this ad at the bottom of the page that says "it's Saturday!" "And YOU don't have a date!" Ahhhh! how does it know!?? It's true.....i spend saturday night on chat and posting.... :tired:
Luckily I not ALL of those points are true for me... yet.... (I've been watching tons of fan-subtitled anime and I've started learning a FEW words in Japanese!! eep!) /me bushes ^-^
lol, Faeluna....you're ichiban in my books!!! (I hope that means "Number one" like I was told it did!!! lol) As to the rest of the Chat Addicts, I salute you!! It's another Friday night and here I sit, typing posts to the Forum while the kids watch some sitcom...What can I say? I told ya I was rapidly becoming a chat addict!! Anyway, good night...I love ya, and Bill Gates loves ya and well, I think you get the picture!! lol
Yep, ichiban does mean number one.. I can only count to four... ichi ni san shi... not sure of spelling of anything other than ichi because there is a Japanese import beer around here at the Sushi bars that's named Ichiban! I'm using chat and forums to increase my typing speed... I wonder if I AM up to 80 words per minute yet?
Jake (pez_candy) fits the chat addict almost perfectly.. there are only a few things he doesn't qualify for. Jake also has some other ones you know you chat too much when you find yourself commonly using acronyms instead of actually sayin the words (like brb instead of "be right back"). you know you chat too much when you find yourself thinking "/me goes to the frig" or "/me sits infront of the tv" ect.. instead just doin it. you know you chat too much when you type an english essay using chat slang ( things like u instead of you and ne1 instead of anyone) Jake hopes you enjoyed those and his continuation to talk in 3rd person
oh! jake has another one: you know you chat too much when you find yourself tryin to mimic the little emote dudes (like try to make a face like or )
