    Turning down TV volume

I have a sort of nightclub room in my house, which is very comfy, fun, has bars and nice dark decor, with of course loud imported Techno/House music :)

My problem is, when I want my sims dancing away to very loud dance music I dont want my guest flipping on the tv to hear low sound quality gibberish on a constant loop nearly twice as loud as my imported files, which are loud as it is.

So - How do I mute the TV permanently so only an image indicates its turned on.

    Thanks

Make some silent TV movies? ;)

A: As i've not done this before - will the additional movies replace the originals, making the TV silent - or will it (as with music) add them, thus making the TV loud half the time

B: any recomended simple methods? - my current selection of videos consist of +15 min high res files.

    Thanks

edit: With that in mind maybe you have some silent 15 sec avis :) ?

It's a good question, I find the TV sounds to be incredibly irritating. I also find the SSX (or whatever it's called) really loud and grating. Wish that someone here (hint hint) would make a mod that added a mute option to those two items.

Or even better I'd like to have a computer object with the game removed entirely, this way I could put them in my sims's bedrooms without the danger of some night owl waking them up in the middle of the night to play a stupid game. :)

I haven't really experimented, so I don't know if it'll work, but there are a few options for altering and/or muting various in-game sounds in the options menu where you set camera, graphics and sound options ...

As for the silent movie option ... it seems that placing avi's in the movies/tv subfolders tends to replace the default movie files. I can't be certain but it sure seems that way. If you have some 15 minute ones what's wrong with those? (Apart from file size that is? )

You could always try JMP's excellent home security system to bar visitors' access to the TV room.

NOTE the above link leads to ModTheSims2.com which contains material that is not teen-rated.

The loud TV and SSX thing is a known bug that keeps coming up on the BBS...

It makes me HATE HATE HATE having a TV in my Sims' houses. Eventually I gave up and turned sound effects way down. It's under audio options.

The TV sounds are really annoying and always louder than the piano music that is playing at the same time too. The most annoying channel is the Yummy channel that sends off that alarm sound, the first few times I heard that sound I thought a smoke alarm had actually gone off in my rl house :D
