Uninstall/Install problem Hello... My hard drive crashed and burned a few weeks ago, and today I tried to reinstall my sims 2 game. When I try to install it this is what happens: The box pops up asking for english or espagnol. My computer starts humming and "thinking", then a little box pops up that says "Error executing 'D:\support\The Sims 2_uninst.exe' %1 is not a valid Win32 application" So this is not good. When I pop out the cd, it says "are you sure you want to quit installation, I say yes, and I get the same thing. The Sims2 has worked fabulously on my computer since it came out until I had to replace my hard drive... I have tried to manually uninstall with the directions on the maxis website, I have installed a registry cleaning program to try to find the remaining registry stuff, and have read every single help post online that I can find. Only one other person appears to have had this problem before, and on her post it doesn't say if/how she finally got it fixed!! If anyone can help me I would so appreciate it! Your site looks like it's the most thorough of all that I can find... Thanks so much - I want to play again!
Have you tried to manually delete the registry keys yourself? A registry cleaning program may be missing the file. As long as you touch only the files which are relevant to The Sims 2 you should be fine.
Thanks for getting back to me! At this point I think I've tried everything. I've manually deleted them, tried the program, restarted in safe mode and done all that such stuff... I have no idea why I'm getting those errors, or what they mean and how to make them go away! As of right now there are aboslutely no sims related files on my computer (supposedly) and also no registry files either, but the installation still won't work. Any other advice would be appreciated! I hate that I can't play!
