Troubleshooting Vista Problems?

Vista Problems?

I just recently got a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium. I installed The Sims 2, and it worked just fine. After I downloaded some items and lots off of The Sims 2 website, I attempted to play but it would not work anymore. The game would stop at the point where it is loading the neighborhood. Is this because some of the things I downloaded are not compatible with Vista?
