VOICES I just thought will there be a difference between the voices of different species? And if so wil we be able to choose it? Like if i create a small furry monkey thing will it sound the same as if i made a 1000ft slug thing?
Voice Hi there, I don't know exactly if there will be such option but I did heard about a voice edtior from somewhere. Also in gaming steve spore forum there is a guy who makes icons. One of those is a voice edtior so I will say he probably knows what he's doing: http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=708.0
Heh i had an idea when full game come out IF ! ill go in and mess with the voices delete some and go to voice recorder and put the file in spore so when i listen it will have my voice and ill put ..... BOOBY ALIENS HERE ! :bouncy:  :laughing2:
Okay.. My first question is, is that link a list of things that the game designers and developers plan to do, or is it something that that forum community wants? It looks like a huge amount of work. Second question.. More of a statement, I would think that the sound editor, if there is one, would be much like a keyboard/sound mixer. If any of you have ever used coke music, thats something I think it would be like.. Drag and drop sounds into a 'voice' or so..
The sound of your creature will actually be determined by the mouth(s) you put on your creature. So if you put on a bird beak it will make bird sounds, an insect mouth will make bug noises, etc. Also, if you give it multiple types of mouths the sounds will layer, which sounds pretty awesome (This was demonstrated in the G4TV demo which you can find if you search for Spore on their website). Also those icons arn't actually official game options because half of them are features im almost certain they won't have in the game. For example: Parthenogenesis /Budding, and a dance editor.
I'm thinking, depending on your type (phylum, family, etc.) of your creature, will come different noises. i.e - If you creature is 90823745 years old, it might sound frail, but if you're creature's a mere 8 seconds old, it might sound differently. It should be something along the lines of 'The Sims 2'
In the IGN Video Will Wright himself says that the mouth you choose will determine how your creature will sound. Watch and listen to what he says... it is fairly early on the this video during the creature creation portion... or when he clicks on the eggs from his creature and remakes it. But I know he says it in this video. What I can't or have not see yet is if our creature's can have spots. I have seen lots of stripes added... but never any spots.
Well, yes but that's not all, I can open my mouth wide and close it very small and here different frequency, but yo ustill hear my voice...
:laughing2: Ok.. but watch the two new links on Snootys front page and there is another creature made with a different mouth at the start of one of those and it has a totally different sounding voice than the one Wright makes. Really, don't make it harder on yourself than necessary.
Basic explination of voices: Voices depend on the mouth of your creature. The size, shape, ect.. Whatever the mouth is like, thats what will determine your specie's voice.
