    Wall Graphics Problems

    I just installed the Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack (it may be relevant), and I went to create a family, and instead of the walls being their normal color (I think that it's blue), the walls were a flashing shades of red and black. It is like this with walls in my Sims' houses, too. Does anybody know why this happened or how I could fix it? I checked Technical Support and it doesn't have any information on this.

    Sorry. My computer was having trouble uploading the page, so I tried to cancel it and resend, but it had already sent the information. Sorry.

    Don't worry about it, I deleted your other one for you. That kind of stuff has happed to almost all of us at one point!

    Glad you found the other threads too...as I mentioned in one you had responded to I'm not too up to par on technical information but if you post your computer specs someone else here will get back to you on what they recommend you to do, maybe even a specific new card you should buy with your computer if that is the solution. If you're not sure how to get your computer specs click here and follow the instructions! Hope you figure it out soon!

    Quick answer that took me about a week to work out for my daughter, so I thought I might save you ripping your hair out.
    The problem is your graphics card - NOT any no cd crack you've got. This works for Sims 2, Sims 2 Double Deluxe DVD and Pets - don't know about any other packs;

    1 Goto the Pets install folder - probably
    'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Sims 2\Pets' or something similar.
    2 Look for a folder called TS Data and goto
    'TS Data\RES\Catalogs\Scripts'
    3 Look for a file called 'walls.txt', open it using notepad.
    4 Look for 'wall 1
    'defaultPattern blank
    5 Add the following in a new line
    'invisibleLightBlocking' DON'T add the quotes.
    6 Save the text file (after making a backup of the orginal file).
    7 Restart the game - should have no flashing walls.
    8 This is not a fix - you've just made the walls invisible.

    NOTE: There are probably a lot of other walls with different numbers
    Don't change them.

    Hope this helps

    Red Flashing Walls - A Fix.

    RED FLASHING WALLS
    The reason they're flashing is the expansion pack doesn't support your graphics
    card, here's a fix that gets rid of it.
    Open the Pets install directory probably;
    C:\Program Files\EA Games\Sims 2\Sims 2 Pets or something similar.
    Open for the 'TS Data' folder,
    goto the 'RES' folder,
    goto the 'Catalog' folder,
    goto the 'Scripts' folder.
    Now look for a text file called 'walls.txt'
    Make a copy of this as a backup.
    Open the original in notepad and scroll down it until you come to the lines that say;
    'wall 1
    default pattern blank'
    after the default pattern bit start a new line and type the following (without the quotes)
    'invisibleLightBlocking'
    Save the file and restart the game, should have no flashing walls, they're still there, it's just that they are now invisible.
    Hope that helps - DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE.
    It might work for other exspansion packs, I don't know 'cos
    my daughter only plays pets. This took me nearly a month to
    work out.
