We got a new computer! We've been discussing getting a desktop for a while now...since our old crappy once crashed a year ago. We got one last night and went all out, prepare to be a bit jealous! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7740073&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01172&id=1140392808560 We also got the monster monitor... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7481511&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat39100050030&id=1125466651583 And decided that if we're going to use this for gaming, we should upgrade to a better video card... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7634795&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01151&id=1130987444322 Anyway, we're having them install the video card for us and transfer all our files from our laptop over to the new desktop, so I pick it up tonight. That means that the Sims are going to be on my new computer, with all my old families, so I don't have to start over...WOOT! I'm so excited. This computer is HDTV ready, and it has the same capabilities as TIVO, without the monthly fee. Brandon is super excited because of the fact that we can even hook our console games to this computer to play on the monitor. Needless to say, we are now in debt, but it's interest free for 12 months, with everything, service plan it ended up running us just over $2400.00, but it will be worth it!
LOL, I will have to show it off to you and Sachrissa once I get my game going again on it. It was getting pretty slow to load on the laptop...took around 10 minutes. I was impressed by how quickly it took you to get into houses, the load time that is. It takes me on our laptop about 5 minutes just to load a house. It runs smoothly once in the house...if it's not too big of a house, but I don't have too many issues...and don't even get me started on the save time. I'm so excited at how fast this is going to run. And since they are transferring all my files from the laptop to the desktop, I don't have to re-download everything! I can't wait for work to be over tonight!
Have to show off a couple of pictures from the game, I was drooling as I was playing tonight. First one is of Amy Jones, the newspaper girl. 2nd is a view of the neighbors house, one of the premade houses in Bluewater Village in Open for Business. 3rd is a view down the road in Bluewater Village. 4th is a picture of one of my born in game sims, Marlaina. She was actually born to my Ian and Lila of my old story thread. She now has twins of her own...another story. 5th is of Lucy Handby (I think that's her last name). One of the maids.
Hmmmm - I see you posted at ONE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING! Did you get ANY sleep last night??? Or were you up al night playing Sims2??? Yes, yes - SBW and I will need to come up and inspect this knew addition...What fun for you! And what fun for us to be introduced to your neighborhoods! (Missed you at the last gathering!) If only they made laptops that had as much power as a desktop, but that didn't weigh a ton and cost a bundle! How lovely to be able to take everything with you! I've often been tempted to get me a desktop, just for gaming! But then I'd go into withdrawal while on the road!!!
Yeah...you caught me...1:30 I went to bed. We didn't get the computer home until 8, and then there was the installing of several different programs, of course reinstalling all the Sims2 expansions and original game, and then overwriting the game with my old folders so I could still have my families and all my downloads. Brandon also has wanted Oblivion for a while now, so I bought him that and installed that as well. Then I HAD to make sure all my families survived the install and transfer of course! Everyone made it in perfect shape, and they all look better than before! In an hour last night I was able to go into 7 different houses and I played two of the families for a day each, just to make sure things were okay, and the other families I played for a couple of sim hours. On the laptop I would have been lucky if I could have played two families for one sim day in an hour. I didn't realize it was that slow, but compared to this computer it was! And yes, I'll miss the easy transportation, but honestly I really only play them at home anyway, so I think I'll survive. And this new monitor...*drools* I can't even explain the experience.
Very very nice, Shana. You just let us know when you're ready to be invaded. I'm still pretty happy with my computer, but I would like a bigger monitor (green with envy here) and a faster processor wouldn't hurt either.
That is to say, I won't be upgrading any time soon but I'd sure like to see what an upgrade can do! Can't edit for some reason. Oh well.
Nice computer. Unfortunetly, i'm still stuck with my old 1.20GHz machine. I'd be lucky if I can even manage to play The Sims 2 with such an old machine.
