Weird crashing and flashing red terrain

    Hi,
I just reinstalled the Sims 2 on my computer after reformatting it earlier this month. I downloaded and installed the latest patch. When I tried to play the game, everything was fine until I got to the neighborhood, where the ground flashes red. then when I tried to make a new family or play an existing family the game crashes. I even tried installing the latest video driver, but the same thing is happening. I don't know why; it worked perfectly before I reformatted.

    These are my system specs:
    Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs)
    1534MB RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
    Free Space: 165 GB
    Total Space: 232 GB
    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
    Main Driver: nv4-disp.dll, version: 6.14.0011.6218, date: 29/06/2007
    Video Memory: 256.0 MB

    Can anyone please help me?

Have you by any chance got Fun Stuff installed? That is known to cause red flashing problems. I think you can fix it with one of the patches on EA's site. Got any of those? http://www.thesims2.ea.com/update/

As for the crashing. Try EA's support site.
