I've had that happen on older content which had changed the alpha.bmp map. Does this happen with all content, or just some of it? For instance, does it happen with Maxis clothing as well as downloaded content? Have you changed your defaults either with downloaded content (such as from MTS2) or manually using SimPE or another program?
all of it, unless i choose a custom skin. then it's normal. but when i'm making a family, it shows up all weird... Yes, it shows up with maxis and downloaded content. I'm not sure what you mean by the last question, but I do get stuff from MTS2. And no, I don't use SimPE.
This vaguely rings a bell as far as something I'd heard about. Have you done a search for others with this problem? As to the question you didn't understand, there are ways of downloading and installing content (which is especially found on MTS2) which replace the default Maxis parts (especially things like clothing meshes and body shape meshes.) These might have an impact on how your game views them. Also, do you have the appropriate game patches from the official site. There are official patches for the game which often times address oddness such as this. And finally, how far above minimum your computer's abilities are and whether you have the appropriate drivers for your video card can make a difference too.
I'm going to do an expirement by taking my downloads folder out of the sims 2 folder, and see if it changes. then i'll know if it's because of a download. no I don't have patches, but i'll get them. and yes, my computer is very new, and the capabilities are very high.
I just took my downloads folder out of the Sims 2 folder, and everything was fine... So it is a download. I just need to figure out which one...
I also forgot to say, that sims with maxis skintones also have writing all over their hair. Heres a couple updated pics. ^Jan Tellerman^
PROBLEM FIXED. YESSS. I went to MTS2 and went to their Help section. They had a guide for if a download is messing up your game, and how to determine which one it is. After I deleted the download, life became blissfull in Simland. Thanks for all your help!!! Summer
