Whenever I move the camera, I get serious lag!! First off I'd like to say hi, I'm new here! The problem I'm having is simple, but I can't find any solutions at all! Whenever I move the camera in-game, it lags a lot, with the music stuttering and the game itself slowly moving. It only happens when I move the camera, it's absolutely fine when it's completely still! Here are my specs: (It's an Acer Aspire 9300 Laptop) Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology MK-36, 2GHz 1024MB RAM GeForce Go 6100 (128MB Memory, 425MHz) DirectX 9.0c The annoying thing is I had the game installed a while back, it had the same problem but somehow the issue was resolved, same laptop, no changes since then at all apart from various updates, which I would have thought should improve the matter if anything... I'm only running Sims 2, no expansion packs, does anybody have any idea how to solve this issue? I've tried compatibility mode, but it didn't seem to have any effect at all. Please help! Thanks in advance!
Well... You're GeForce Go 6100 video card is not supported and there's no guarantee that The Sims 2 would work on laptops. I would suggest that you check the minimum system requirements of the game at ea games' website.
If I may interject here, just because a "card" technically is NOT listed on The official site or the EA Games website doesn't NOT necessarily imply the card is NOT supported to work. Other things need to be considered, such as WHAT generation the card is. The Go 6100 series card comes from the GeForce 6000 series GPUs, which DOES have T&L support. More than likely the Go 6100 DOES have T&L support, among other things. Kreejo - My guess is that it has to do with you running Windows Vista. Disable a lot of the extremely fancy graphics, like Aero. Consider also boasting your memory to 2GB for smoother performance.
Thanks, I'll switch to Vista Basic colour scheme and tell you how it goes, none of the compatibility modes seem to have an effect.
No luck with the Vista Basic visual setting, I'm going to run through all the compatibility modes, I'm hoping for some good results...
