Which Computer would be better? Dell Dimension 8400 w/ Pentium 4 3.6 GHz 1 GB RAM X300 SE ATI Radeon or Dell Dimension 5100 w/ Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 512 MB RAM GeForce 6800 Please let me know which choice would be better to run the sims 2 to the fullest delight! Thanks!
Well, heres the thing, you'd have a pretty great machine if you combined the best of BOTH PCs. I'd definetely go witht he one with the Geforce 6800 because thats a huge leap ahead of the X300, but the 1 gig of ram and the faster CPU will ensure your loading times don't take longer than 15 seconds. (They're both P4s, so any CPU related bottlenecks shouldn't be that noticeable), Is there a machine with the best of both worlds?

Yeah it is kinda hard to decide which one, but like you said the one with the 1GB of Memory and 3.6 processor will load things a lot quicker, which is one of the main things I want for the game to do. Umm but the better graphics card makes it a struggle for me to decide. Maybe I will just a 6800 GeForce card for the Dell 8400 system?
512mb of RAM is a lot cheaper than a new graphics card! The difference in processor speed won't make much difference especially if the RAM and hard disc aren't of the fastest possible specs. Remember that Maxis specify that the more display memory the better So check to see if you would be getting 256MB of memory on that 6800 and if so get that and add a 512MB of RAM ASAP
Hi Mirelly! Yes the GeForce card is 256 MB... and I've decided to get the computer with the better graphics card. Because I think in the long run the graphics card would be harder to get. I could always buy some memory you know! So thanks to you and RandomZero, I've finally made my mind hehe!
