Why is my sim talking to a paper cup?

I just noticed one of my sims talking to a paper cup in the background of a pic of another sim giving birth...

Why was she doing this... and more importantly, how do i get her to do it again?

It happens when a sim is in aspiration failure, sounds like your sim is a popularity sim?

LOL I love it that sims are so darn selfish. Some poor so-and-so is going through the rigors of childbirth and all another can think about is the fact that haven't got someone to talk at! :p

Yeah, fortune sims beg for money.
Family sims hold a sack of flour.
Romance sims talk to a broom with a paper plate stuck on it.

    I don't remember the rest.

So, has anyone had a knowledge sim go into aspiration failure? Or a pleasure sim? Just wondering what happens to them.

I've only had panhandlers and the occasional shrink visit. I'd love to get the paper cup sometime. Maybe I'll be mean to Zaid Mustafa for a while. He's a popularity sim. :p

Xander had to be visited by the shrink after his grandmother, Lola, died. They were very close. It was kind of sweet, actually.

Knowledge sims hold a soccer ball with a face drawn on it and a graduation hat (dunno what it's called) on it, and they talk to it and stuff. I think. I'm not really sure.

LOL that reminds me that it's a shame that sims seem not to have much a yearning for sweet stuff. I don't ever remember seeing a want for a dessert or candy come up and that career reward chocolate maker ... such a shame there's no option to save them and either pig-out or else give away. Where was I? Oh yeah ... if sims had been given a sweet tooth we could also have them needing dentistry  I just watched the French's have a very disturbed night after the ghost of Clarice when on the rampage ... she mostly picked on her youngest grandson, the evil old bag; she died after Edward with whom she was still mad due to his philandering ways with the maid and ... well anyone of the female persuasion. Edward? Not heard a peep out of him! Rodin and Tiffany keep his urn in their bedroom! I think he's resting in peace

Pleasure sims dance around with a lampshade on their head.
