We work closely with Will Wright to tightly marry procedural content generation, solid game play, intuitive in-game editors and strong online community. We are looking for experienced and talented candidates who will lead development of an innovative community-focused website to Spore, as well as a web-based infrastructure to support in-game content delivery. This is a great job for you if you love video games and want to create innovative online features to support community around games. Responsibilities: Work with Producers and other Engineers to design and build a web architecture to support content dissemination to multiple game platforms and the public-facing Spore.com Work closely with Database Administrators to create and optimize complex SQL queries Developing and Testing of features for Spore.com and accompanying ecommerce endeavors. Creating technical design documents and site documentation Ongoing web application maintenance and feature development once site is live Requirements: 3 or more years experience in the Internet/Web/Games industry. B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent. JSP/JSTL, XHTML, CSS required. AJAX, PHP, and custom JSP Tag development a plus Ability to write complex SQL Queries - we're using Oracle for our Production environment so familiarity with that is key. Experience with modern J2EE web application development, including MVC frameworks (e.g., Struts, Spring, Tapestry) and ORM technologies (e.g., Hibernate) Experience building online community and/or social networking websites and applications a huge plus Experience with international web site localization a plus Familiarity with cross-platform, multi-browser issues. Good communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with those outside your discipline.
