I have an X-box 360 which I do like but don't tend to spend as much time on compared to my PC.
I think it has the biggest selection of games where as with the PS3 you do get a Blu-ray player which normally run about $200-300 USD for just a player.
I think with the price cuts it's getting to be a little more competitive with the X-box 360.

I have a PS3 (It came with the TV) and bluray looks amazing on it. I don't play many games on it but GT5P is a lot of fun and also looks good in 1080p.

The PS3 also has great media functions and things like flash work well in the browser.

An Xbox have a lot more games to choose from, great graphics, and made specifically for games. As a PS3 are made for both games and multimedia like Flame said.

This is all IMO...so please don't flame me if I'm wrong...

X-box 360 = games and dvd player in High definition
PS3 = games and internet options, Blu-ray movies in High definition (better than standard dvd ) and for those people who do it you can run the Folding@Home (Google it) utility also where as the X-box 360 you can't.
Also the Playstation Home Network is free unlike X-Box Live.
