If the Danish Sims 2 site is correct, we should be seeing SimCity Societies Deluxe next month around June 27. It will come packed with the original SimCity Societies game as well as it’s expansion, SimCity Societies Destinations. While that is nice and all…I’m still waiting to hear of a seperate stand alone retail version of SimCity Societies Destinations….

Details on SimCity Creator! |
Apr 30, 2008 - 6:12 AM - by Judhudson
Remember back in February when I posted EA’s upcoming Sim projects? One of those was SimCity Creator. Looks like my all-around favorite gaming forum, NeoGAF, found more on this game.EA release list for the summer period (june to september) in Europe shows a mysterious new Sim City game headed to the Wii:
SimCity Creator 26-Sep NDS
SimCity Creator 26-Sep Wii
We need a SimCity game for the Wii. The controller has so many possibilities of what can be added to the game. The obivous point-and-click should function much like a normal mouse, but the motions could add more depth. Want to cause a tornado? Spin the remote in a frenzy. Earthquake? Shake it up!

It’s a Simulated World: Part Two |
Apr 11, 2008 - 6:05 AM - by Judhudson
Valley24.com has part Two of their “It’s a Simulated World” writeup. In this article they discuss the worst of the Sims series, as well as the copycats that tried to imitate the sucess of Maxis. I strongly have to disagree with most of the games on the list, especially SimCity 3000 and Animal Crossing…But I do agree with The Sims Online (failure from a business standpoint) and Singles (which just looks plain awful).SimCity 3000 (1999) – Simcity 3000 certainly isn’t a bad game; but, as a sequel to SimCity 2000, it falls a little short. Essentially, 3000 is little more than a gussied-up version of 2000 with a handful of new features—which is fine for anyone who never played 2000. But if you happened to play 2000 to death, there really wasn’t much new fun to be had here. To be fair, the game could have been much worse; Maxis originally conceived 3000 as being in 3D, but dropped this idea when they realized that rendering really brown rooms in Quake was the only 3D late-90s PCs could do.

It’s a Simulated World: Part One |
Apr 05, 2008 - 4:41 PM - by Judhudson
Valley24.com shares their take on the highs and lows of all Sim games which branched over 3 decades. This week is Part One and covers SimCity, SimCity 2000, The Sims and SimCity 4. Man, it’s almost SimCity’s 20 year anniversary… That was my first true sims game played on a very old 486 PC.And that’s exactly where the beauty of Wright’s games lie; they’re “pointless” in the best sense of the world. While the term has never been entirely pinned down, Wright’s games are essentially of the “sandbox” variety: you’re given a space to play in with some confines, and the goals are determined by the player rather than the sandbox itself. So, if you were the type of kid who loved building intricate sand castles, your personal goal in a SimCity game may be to make a one-horse town grow to the size of a teeming metropolis; but for any juvenile delinquents out there who buried their sisters’ Barbies head-first in the sand, the SimCity series offers many natural disasters to inflict on a terrified populace with just the push of a button. And unlike a lot of other games featuring the hot topic of morality, SimCity will never judge you.
Next week - The worst moments of the Sim- series, and the copycats that tried (and possibly failed) to capture that Sim-Magic.
