Product Registration I have a serious problem with the product registration. Since you cannot register directly from the website an I do not have the internet on my computer which has the Sims 2 installed on it I thought I couldnot product register. ThHen it said that I do not have to register online, I can do it offline, over the phone I think. So I called the number and the representative told me to call another number. I called that number which told me to go to the Sims 2 website. I did that attempted to register but I couldnt unless I had the game on that computer with the Internet on it. I called the number again got the same number and I ended up back at the Sims 2 website. I want to product register but this is a major drawback seeing as I'm getting the run-around which is not helping me to register any faster.
Suckage Yeah, the electronic registration is for one thing only: using the ingame browser to download shared files and new Maxis stuff. At least, that's all I've found it useful for. It sounds like they are running you around. Sucks. They must be outsourcing tech support from AOL (I just lost a sliver of soul for typing those three letters together).
Lol, I know what you mean. I just wanted to download the cool stuff like the christmas tree and the computer and stuff like that, but i can't put the game on the comp. with the internet becuase itd move slower. so I guess I'm stuck till they offer the registration straight from the site like in the sims 1.
one thing ive mentioned before is to take your sims 2 cd to a computer that does have net access and run the registration program (forgot which folder its in but just dig around the cd for it) there.
...could he not just copy the registration file to a floppy disk and run it from another computer? Just wondering, dunno if it's possible, but I'm curious.
That would negate the need for the CD to register ... thereby facilitating software piracy, which would, of course, be stupid (for the manufacturer to permit) and illegal (for the perpetrator to do).
It's too expensive to add another line to the computer with the sims 2 on it that would be almost $75 which is more than I am willing to pay so that I can register a game.
you should be able to run a router or just switch the modem to the pc with the sims on it temporarily... i guess it all depends on what kind of internet you have. I'm a cable internet customer service rep so that's my 2 cents anyway.
Comcast should allow you to be able to hook up a router to their cable line, and then from there, redistribute the connection to all the other computers in the household. That's what I did in my house. I hooked up three computers to a router, and it all shares an internet connection Psst..recommendation: Linksys WRT54G
Not really adding to the conversation, just wanted to say This Sim is yummy! Love the new sig, Rowanstaff.
That's right. I have to purchasethe router (which isn't that expensive) but I can run the 2 separate lines at no extra cost. I'll be registered an downloading in no time.
I wired my entire house to be wireless, so I can have up to about 246 wireless devices and 4 wired devices Not bad
